War.app has just been updated to version 6.03.0! This update adds a bunch of new features and makes improvements to the game and app. This blog post describes what’s changed.
This update is live now on the website at war.app and on the standalone clients. It will come to the Android and iOS apps in the coming week or two.
Many of the features being delivered in this update were directly lifted from the Feature Request Forum, where you can vote on what features you’d like to see implemented into War.app next. This is the primary way of making your voice heard, so be sure to vote if you haven’t!
Relations Tab
The statistics dialog now has a new tab called Relations! This shows which players were attacking other players in a nice, easy-to-read format.

Clan History
When viewing a player’s public profile, it now shows a history of what clans they’ve joined and left, along with the dates. This helps you understand what clans players have been participating with in the past, instead of only being able to see their current clan.
Note that this data is only officially being recorded as of this update, so clan changes after the date of this update will be accurate. Some clan changes from before this update were able to be gathered from war.app’s log file, but this data isn’t 100% complete so some historical clan changes may be missing.
Better Notification Dialog
If you have the Android/iOS app open when a push notification arrives, the game notifies you about it via an in-game dialog instead of placing a notification in your notification tray. In prior updates, this dialog appeared in the center of the screen and was modal (meaning it blocks your input until you acknowledge it.) Starting with this update, the dialog is now in the upper-right corner and isn’t modal, leading to a much better play experience, especially for those in lots of games.

Guide Improvements
The in-game guides often customize themselves to give you specific information you need to know about the game you’re looking at. When they do this, they mention the phrase “this game”, such as “this game uses…” or “in this game…”. Starting with this update, whenever a guide mentions “this game,” that phrase is now underlined and hovering over it produces a tooltip that shows what settings of that game that are affecting the guide.
Also, when opening the first turn of a game that has applicable guides you’ve never read, you’re now presented with a list of those guides. This helps new players discover new features easier. For example, a common frustration was new players joining a multi-attack game and not realizing it.
Once you view the guide once, that particular guide won’t show up again. So once you view all 24 of them, they won’t pop up anymore.
To avoid this popping up for experienced players, at the time of this update, if you’ve played at least 5 games on using a feature, that guide will be pre-marked as learned so you won’t see it.
Mobile Browser Support
For the first time, it’s now possible to play War.app in your browser on an Android / iOS device! This is useful for those who can’t install the app for some reason.
Prior to this update, trying to open a link for an unsupported feature, like a multi-player game link, on an Android / iOS device would redirect you to that game in the app. To ensure this redirect keeps working, while also allowing players to choose to open it in the browser, a new account-level setting has been added called Redirect To App. You can configure Redirect To App in the account settings to one of three values:
On: Always redirect links (like game links) to the app. This is how the game worked prior to this update.
Off: Never redirect links to the app. This allows you to play directly in your browser.
Auto: If you’ve ever signed into the app from this platform (Android / iOS), then redirect to the app. Otherwise, open it directly in the browser. This is the default setting, which ensures that redirects continue to work for existing players while allowing new players to play in their browser.
Ask Fizzer Anything
This Tuesday, July 28th at 11 am PDT, Fizzer will be doing an Ask-Me-Anything session live on twitch! Feel free to drop in and ask any questions you have! If you can’t make it, you can post your questions to this thread and view the recording of your question after it’s over.
Other Changes
- Classic: Quickmatch Blitz games now always provide at least 30 seconds for the base clock time.
- Classic: Moved the boot time label in the lobby to be under the game name.
- All: Fixed SVG map parsing errors.
- All: Fixed a bug with clan war matchmaking rating blend.
- Idle: Added Auto Draft as a checkbox in the autos dialog, even though it can’t be disabled. Some players were confused and thought they didn’t have auto draft since it wasn’t there.
- Idle: Added basic idle guide and an idle FAQ.
- Mods: GameOrderReceiveCard, GameOrderStateTransition, and ActiveCardWoreOff are now sent to mods via the Server_AdvanceTurn_Order mod hook. Note that, unlike player-inputted orders, these types of orders cannot be skipped.
- Mods: Fixed setting a table entry to nil not deleting that value from the table.
*slow clap*
Damn, you nailed it!
This is like a simple version of what Civ 4 used to show in the game with relationships, which is incredibly useful and then you made it better! The stats are really useful.
This avoids players having to manually track or add their relationships to a mod or something, all automatic.
I’m a data analyst and this really good stuff.
One thing, at the moment, I’m having issues seeing the graph but i guess that’s quick fix on the dimensions of the window.
Anyways, this a great feature.
has the option to switch off 3D rendering been removed?
because right now, i have to play my games from mobile browser (desktop mode), and I cannot find the setting.
3D SE looks horrible.
And Ican’t make moves in larger maps. It just shows tooltips of territory names, even when I set it to deploy or move….
But why does my normal app crash?
I tried to load general chat yesterday, since then it crashes the moment I open it (no option to report bug).
Hope the updates vome through quickly and solve the issue without me getting booted.
i can read GC in idle app.
