Dan - I agree that history should be taught, but this has nothing to do with that. Using the name in history books is not disrespectful.
But you haven’t given reason as to how using the name in this setting isn’t disrespectful to some people? I’m telling you that using that name in this setting is disrespectful to me. Who are you to tell me otherwise? You think I want to play a game with these people? It’s against my conscious knowing how he killed my family only a few generations ago. It sickens me.
I created a game and someone named “Adolf hitler 43” joined the game and I was unable to boot them from the lobby. I don’t want to have to play with this person and now I’m forced to surrender because of it and impact my stats, as well as time wasted creating and filling the game.
Say the name isn't disrespectfull to all nations and families who suffered under his rule. Including us Czechs. I would be for banning that name altogether and is beyond my comprehension why Fizzer even allows it.
I believe the issue boils down to that it isn't possible for Fizzer to create a name filter that prevents offensive names fully. Even the game companies with many workers/programmers struggle with it and most of the time cannot deal with it fully, so imo it makes sense from Fizzer's perspective to not ban it and allow players to block it. (I don't even want to enter into the argument of what would be offensive, like not on a black and white example but on some other names that can fall into gray area.)
That’s fair to an extent Uzay, but other names that are disrespectful to users are allowed to be reported on, so that action can be taken to change it. So why is there an exception here? I don’t agree with the idea “because he was a world leader.” The people using this name are intentionally trying to be disrespectful to many others, which is against the rules.
I actually don't think offensive names are reportable in general, too. To be honest I hadn't tried to report anyone for that reason but when I checked I couldn't see anything like "Report due to offensive name" and couldn't see anything like that in the rules page as well.
I understand that this policy is consistent with Google advertising rules. However, it is also super wild to me how mildly explicit names are prohibited while Hitler names and the like are permitted. That's like allowing you to drive 150 miles an hour, but not 120.
Yeah, I think my main point is that these people using the Hitler names are intentionally doing it to be disrespectful to others, and being disrespectful to others is against the rules.
Dan, you still haven’t answered my question. Why should the name be allowed when its creator knowingly is disrespecting others by using it? And being disrespectful is against the rules?
Don't see what "historical accuracy" is about... Yeah maybe some diplo/roleplay games but the name is across the site. I could see "Hitler" as a nickname if nicknames for games were added, but not for the entire site...
Kitler I would not consider the same, the term "Kitler" is "Kitty" or "Kitten" + "Hitler", and is a term that is usually used referring to a cat that looks like Hitler. (Fur on top of head in a pattern like Hitler's haircut, and mustache like fur in pattern similar to his mustache.)
