Dan, you still haven’t answered my question. Why should the name be allowed when its creator knowingly is disrespecting others by using it? And being disrespectful is against the rules?

If they add anything onto the name which is intentionally offensive, that's already against the rules.

The name in itself "Hitler", "Adolf", "Adolf Hitler", is fine. It's a person's name. There's no changing my mind on that. But if they make an intentionally offensive remark upon that, that isn't ok.

I'd say the name Kitler is fine because it's a parody.

Why are the people using the Hitler names using it? Obviously they know they are being offensive and disrespectful to others. So my answer to your question remains the same, based on the rules of this game.

Rento, that’s your personal belief. My personal belief is Nazi ideology should not be normalized and tolerated, and this app is doing just that. And that’s a shame.

But my belief as it relates to the games rules is that the people creating the Hitler name are knowingly being disrespectful to others and therefore are violating the rules of the game.

I agree about the line between feeedom of speech and not allowing disrespect. However this game already censors quite a lot. That line has been crossed. When I first started I learned quick when having a friendly chat with zilla about the difference between communism and socialism and the whole conversation got deleted and we were warned. I’ve see. People get muted and statements deleted for what is far less intentionally offensive than having a name “Hitler”. What I’m hearing is if I wanted to troll with a username then all is fair game as long as I don’t make a comment about it?

Ok so I changed my username to TrumpsAN@zi which I felt was an equivalent username offending on the opposite side of the spectrum to test this theory and didn’t comment on it. I got blocked for a day. Can someone 1) please explain to me the double standard? And 2) tell me how to change the username back so I don’t immediately get blocked again? Unblocking me for the day would also be appropriate I think since you’d only be following your own advice about ignoring the hitler username. But I want to change my name back because I do think both names are inappropriate

simple, "one is an offensive opinion, the other a historical figure" or some claim like that, even though they would probably be fine with usernames that call people on the opposite side of the political spectrum negative stuff in a similar way

Ok. Who can I talk to about lifting the 24 hour ban? I didn’t actually state any opinion. I simply made a trolling username that I thought abided by the standards laid out in this discussion by the mods in order to make a point that people might feel different if they were the ones offended by the username. Obviously the Hitler name has caused a days worth of discussion of race, religion, politics and has offended people and has not been removed nor the player blocked. I made no comments just changed username to what I thought abided by standards laid out. Please remove 24 ban? Although I believe strongly that you guys are wrong on not banning the Hitler username, I see this is not a fight I’m going to win, and I have no desire to die on this hill. Therefore I will have no desire to talk about it further anyways.

Certain names are in poor taste, but anything not allowed should be stated during the enrolment process when names are selected (or a warning that names in poor taste may be called out).

Personally, I consider "Hitler" to be in poor taste, but topically still relevant.
Genghis Khan is now acceptable because he did his thing hundreds of years ago and people have forgotten.

I don't think the internet, let alone a group of wargamers, should be in the business of policing what others think is acceptable. Having said that, i've never seen Pol Pot, Vlad Putin, Saddam, Khadafi, Kim Jong Un, or Castro used in past.

I would smile if I saw a name like "Fidel Castrol GTX 5w30". (wargamer, historian, and car-guy).

As for that Hitler fellow. I don't care much for him. The more I learn about him, the less I like him. There I said it. I am sure to have ruffled up some feathers but sometimes you have to take a brave stand and stand up for what you believe in. There. Also children getting cancer is sad, coitus should be consensual. I agree with this. Almost every famous leader’s name would have to be banned for some reason or the other.
