So many games the core gameplay loop is super same-ish. Warzone, even when played on a narrow set of settings, allows for a unique degree of flexibility on how its played such that no two games are ever exactly alike, although they often rhyme.

Oh god. So many names I recognize. How does it feel to be old everyone?

I remember meeting so many people on here at 16-17 and now I'm in my late 20's. Time fly. Warzone never changes (though I've always wondered how COD was able to get away with naming their game Warzome)

The simplicity of this game, and making hard decisions. unfortunately, nearly nobody I talked on pv, ended up responding pretty rarely :(

but yeah, I love how simple this game is, how customizable, and how it tests your skills, decisions and prediction

one of the things that keeps me returning is the fun roleplaying opportunities when playing on user-created scenarios or making my own scenarios. maps like the 7 years war and the various star wars galaxies are great for this

i love the mixture of poker and blackjack when playing against humans, and the roleplay opportunities when playing solo

in my deep dives on huge maps i write up my plans and imagine the history unfolding as i go, while listening to relaxing or energizing music

playing multiplayer is a way for me to share the experience with my friends and housemates - giving them updates on how my plans are unfolding - and as a way of weening myself off of the solitary playing binge as i can get pretty addicted, and the long waits help reset my dopamine levels and segway me out of obsession by the time a long multiplayer game has concluded

I stuck around mostly because I enjoy the game, both single-player and multi-player.
It doesn't require me to log in daily, or play daily.
I like and enjoy some people here, but like a lot of gaming communities,
there's people who are a pleasure to know, and others who are difficult to understand.
I've grown a lot in my years, and there's a lot that goes into having friends who live in different parts of the world,
and grew up with very different lives.
Also, the structure of the community that is built into the game,
and the limitations of outside organizing by playes holds back how much I can benefit from the community.

Almost 10 years here.
After having played a very demanding and time-consuming game, I was looking for a game that would allow me to play in a more relaxed manner. I found this one, and that's the reason I'm still here. I can have 40-50 games running when I want, and no games at all when I don't have time or when I want to spend my free time elsewhere.
During the last 10 years I played a few very demanding games again, and when I stopped I never went back to them. Not a single login. But I always keep coming back here.
Community is not important to me anymore. It was in the first years, but then friends started disappearing. It was sad to see their days of inactivity grow and I know one of them passed away. So I usually stay out of the community.
Of course the game is great. I was a fan of the original Risk, but this is better.

I've been playing pretty consistently for almost 8 years now.
In the mid-2000s I used to play this online Risk-like called DominateGame by Emriel Brujintes. Did anyone else ever play that? It was a lot of what we would call Small Earth 6-player FFAs, but you took turns like RISK, and there was fog of war.
After that died, I sometimes would do single-player Warlight to kill time (lol) until I finally bit the bullet and started doing multi-player.

Aside from the community and player base, I like Warzone because of the simultaneous moves. It requires the right mix of skill and intuition that makes it, as my brother said, "a man's game."

I have been here since 2016 and honestly I keep coming back over and over again. The game is amazing and I enjoy that it’s not fast paced or full of crazy ads like modern game apps. I noticed once you start playing with people at certain levels you know they aren’t messing around. I am only as good as the other player. So far everyone I have encountered are mature and not inappropriate compared to online PlayStation/Xbox games. I am a millennial.

I’ve been on since 2014. I play pretty much exclusively multi-day diplomacy games. The people and strategy is what has kept me on for so long. I am however phasing out now, and probably won’t be on for more than a month longer.

I'm a veteran over here, 11 years already playing this game lol

For me, at the beginning was the people. I met such nice people. Then, after first Trump victory, in our clan we had lots of clashes, then I took over as clan leader but sadly our clan went to its current state where people rarely interact since 2023.

Also, to create different tournaments, divisions/tiers, a promotion-relegation system and a Elo rating for our clan games was something very exciting to me.

But still, I really like the game, the diplo mode and over anything, Elitist Africa map, my favorite. I used to play ladders but i dont have the time anymore.

Finally, as someone in the first page of this forum said "I also find the game very relaxing since it is turn-based". That feature allow us to play in a relaxed way which I find amusing.

To players who have stuck with the game for five years or more, what has kept you loyal and consistently playing?
I have to outlast Fizzer.

@Timinator "Dunno who'd stick around that long"

Hold on a sec, aren't you the first founder of the game? Legend says you were spying on Frizzers window when he wrote the first script for Warlight

It was my 10th anniversary a month ago.

I mourn how time has flown. You're telling me it flies by faster and faster?
