Auto Artifact Swapper: Bug or Feature?: 2026-07-16 06:36:41

I have an Insane Army Cache Boost and Insane Cache Boost artifact. The A$B gives me 64% more armies from Army Caches on the map and the Cache Boost gives me 25% more armies from Army Caches on the map. When both are equipped, it’s pretty sweet.

But sometimes, if I have the swapper turned on and two slots locked due to cooling, if I go to take a territory with an army cache, the auto artifact swapper will auto fill the available slot with the regular cache boost artifact and not the army cache boost, even if the army cache boost is equipped. Why does this happen? Is the auto swapper calculating that somehow the general cache boost will get me more armies than the army cache boost, even though the army cache boost gives a higher percentage. Is that even a thing? Or is it a mistake? I also have a legendary resource cache boost, and the same thing happens when I have only one slot available and I take a territory with a resource cache. Does any else encounter this?

Now here’s the really interesting question:

I have an insane draft boost artifact and and insane army camp boost. Like before, when I have both equipped and get a draft it’s pretty sweet because both the camp boost causes the draft to give me more armies and the draft boost well…boosts the draft as well.

BUT let’s say I only have one slot available and I have army camp boost equipped and I get a draft. The autoswapper automatically selects the draft boost for this instance but does that really give you more armies? The camp boost gives you 320% more armies per second whereas the draft boost gives you 128% armies from drafts. If my income is 320% more then shouldn’t the armies I get from the draft also be somewhere around 320% more? And since that’s more than 128% then shouldn’t the autoswapper keep the army camp boost and not swap out the draft boost? Or is there some other fizzerian algorithmic calculation being made that determines that the draft boost actually yields more armies?

I’ve done some digging on this recently, so I’ll let you know what I was seeing.

Regarding your RCB, it prioritizes the higher tier artifact, so your Ins.CB trumped your Leg.RCB.

As for your CB vs A$B situation, I can’t say for certain, but for all intents and purposes, it likely views them as the same type of artifact. This means that if has to pick one, one of three things should happen: it picks one randomly, it picks the first one on your list, or there is a hidden tier system in place. I suspect option 2. This should be easy to test: multiple samples can rule out random if it consistent and changing the order can rule out option 2. This would let you figure out how it works precisely (let us know what you find out). I’d be curious to see how Hospital Boost would play into things if you have one as Insane (since it is a different type).

Speaking of that, Draft Boost vs Army Camp Production… I am almost certain that it doesn’t calculate which is better. It sees Draft, and it equips Draft Boost first. Does it equip Army Production if you have 2 slots open?

From what I’ve read, the best way to handle the swapper is to limit Active artifact use if you have Passives you want to use. It is not intelligent.

I will have to test out option 2.

Sadly my hospital boost is only legendary. Don’t really feel like sacrificing 5 legendary artis to get a nerfed +2% more armies saved

I almost always have a SAC or TW cooling or both. It’s a huge game changer in the early levels and in my trajectory right now I am mainly doing early levels. The best way to use the swapper is to not use some of your artifacts? Kind of defeats the purpose. What’s not intelligent is the mechanics of the swapper.
