Between 2015 and 2017 I made a bunch of single player walkthroughs. These included the "old" single player level Insane Challenge (still accessible via https://war.app/singleplayer/allbuiltin ), as well as the new ones (accessible via https://war.app/SinglePlayer/Play ). I will shortly be deleting them from youtube.

What has lead me to this decision is that, due to regional laws, social media will be banned. What this looks like for youtube in Australia (where such a ban is already in place) is that people can no longer access their account, and, consequently, can no longer post content there, unless they verify their identity. I would assume the UK will do something similar. I fundamentally disagree with the identity verification process:

If there is sufficient interest, I will look into alternative video hosting platforms or even make my own video hosting platform. Decentralization is the only way forward.

i don't see the benefit of doing this yourself (protest against the UK by removing your content from YouTube? how does this get any message across to the Starmtroopers?) and it has significant downsides from an internet archive perspective- arguably, the web is the first time we've had a good human record of mundane actions by mundane people with mundane interests, the first time we've got records of human activity that closely resemble average people's outer lives rather than idealized ones (commercials, movies) or aspirational depictions of elites. that archive is valuable, it's rotting fast, and it's good to try to preserve our little mundane records.

i would urge you to reconsider this deletion. keeping these videos around with the original context of their usage and production preserves a snapshot of a little corner of the world that mattered a lot to you once

Already deleted them. I have my own backups.

I thought it would be nice to give a heads-up about deletion as an explanation as to why.

There's no benefit of keeping Google/YouTube account around when I'd need to had over my personal identification documents to keep using it. I don't use Google account for anything else. Keeping accounts you no longer use is an unnecessary risk.

I know of at least 5 different video hosting platforms. One of them operates on the fediverse. One of the operates on a blockchain. The others are fully centralised. None of them require identity verification to simply upload videos.
