Just wondering if there was a way to find single player/community levels by map or with settings?

There are times when I want to try out a map, but rather than the auto settings, want to try what another player made

You can see popular templates played on a map on that map's page, but I'm unsure how it works in maps with not many games. It shows 5 templates with the most games.

I think the question was about singleplayer aka community levels.

Unfortunately there's no way to do this. We could make a feature request for it, but neither this nor any other community levels improvement would ever get voted in because too few of these players check the forums to vote.

yeah, I was asking about existing levels/games with AI which might be handy to playtest the map instead of auto settings

What you can do is simply create a multi player game with AI's only.

That's not possible unfortunately. You need 2 real players to start an MP game.

On every map page, you have "Start a game" button. If you click it, it asks what kind of game do you want to create. If you choose "Single player", the game will be created with you and AI's.

Okay, I didn't know you could do that.

So taking all our ideas into one, it is possible to open a map, check the most popular template on it, save it as your own, then start a single-player game on it. Kind of a roundabout way but it works.

I tried the multiplayer template but instead of the map I was interested in, it took me to the final earth map for the game. Do I have to find the map again when trying the settings.

Looks like I have to save the settings in advance, how do I save settings themselves regardless of the map?

You need to go to map page (not the map itself) and find "Create Game" button there. Then you can adjust the settings according to your liking.
