If you are proudly left leaning, socialist or even a supporter of communism, let your presence be known here.

i think there's always more to optimize in the methods of governance through algorithms, but yeah as of now capitalism has failed the world, and socialism provides a much better structure for both human development index growth, and overall planet's sustainability

Unfortunately though, there is no state-socialist nation that has developed in complete isolation from external capitalist interference, subversion, or outright military conflict

there's no such thing as utopia. if you ask a caveman, then even medieval age is utopia. If you ask a feudal peasant, an industrial age or current age is utopia.

Even lower middle class people from today live better lives than kings of the past. That does not mean it happened because of "capitalism" or "socialism", it's just a result of progress in technology and continuous improvements in logistics.

If your goal is progress, a more socialist society provides for a better stability for individuals(thus ironically more freedom) for them to innovate, however this innovation is guided by their innate desires and not the need to be better than others.

Capitalism gives you more pressure and ofc people do innovate under pressure as well, however, who reaps the benefits of those innovations is very dubious. Arguably, more self interest leads to more divide and we end up in a pseudo feudalistic society.
Also in purely capitalistic society, groups of ultra wealthy individuals won't hesitate to eliminate most of the population in order to own the maximum resources of the planet, whether or not it negatively impacts the planet is not their worry as their only motive is to be bigger than the other individuals. This system would work if we had infinite resources, but we don't.

Knowing that we have limited resources and that we've very well accounted for most of it on earth, our goal should be to keep them flowing in a cyclic loop such that it does not destroy the planet, and achieves best base level of QOL for everyone, atleast until we find the next planet to go to few hundreds of light years away, circling a red dwarf which will survive for lot longer than the sun

capitalism is not utopia either. and there is the theory of late stage capitalism. there are pros and cons even in the best scenarios for capitalism, and in the worst scenarios it seems pretty bad

yeah ofc. there is no such thing as free markets, it's an illusion created by capitalism. without an external entity correcting the system, capitalism just ends up in oligarchy and techno feudalism
