The time has come, for new Warzone series to begin. They'll come in variety of stages, right now the 1st stage qualification are underway. The goal of this event cycle is reaching the final stage, while overcoming big challenges over way. Each season's 1st stage has 5+ twenty player round robin tournaments. Once one tournament is filled, another is made. Each tournament has a unique template, likely made specifically for the tournament and not widely played before. There's possibility for any setting to be included in the templates. Each tournament will have these set settings: - 4 days boot time,
- 2 games played at a single time,
- respected vacations,
- attack only,
- transfer only,
- attack by percentage
Minimal prerequisites for joining: - 50 games played
- 25 1v1 games completed
- 25% maximum last 100 games bootrate
- Base understanding of English
Each tournament is voluntary to join, players can join as many tournaments as they want and ignore any tournament they dislike. Templates are be made by me, they do not adhere to any specific rules and are made to be fair for both players during the game. I don't try to make them in a certain 'strategic' manner, main drive of these tournaments are be their unique settings. I make sure that there are multiple ways to play on the templates, there are no 'loto' templates in the tournaments, the outcome of games are largely decided by skill. These tournaments will be made constantly, there will be 4 seasons during each year and 1st phase of each season will consist of 5-6 tournaments. To qualify to next phase player will need to win his respectively joined 20 player tournament, players who finish 2nd-5th, will have a chance to qualify too. After first 5 tournaments there will be made another 20 player tournament consisting of players who were 2nd-5th in previous tournaments and in this tournament they will have to get placed 2nd-5th again to qualify further. In the 2nd phase each player will play 10 games versus 10 different players on 10 different templates. This time the templates will be more standard, likely to be carbon copies of various ladders or quickmatch templates. The opponents player will face will be around the strength of ladder top 10 players. Player only needs to win 40% of your games to move forward. In 3rd phase, player will play 5 team games together with other players and will be asked to be team leader. This will include reviewing past games with opponents, reviewing sample game examples to analyse potential play style of opponents. Player will need to be ready to defend his positions with mathematical arguments or psychological analysis of opponent. Being leader includes the obvious: making team picks, suggesting moves, answering team mate questions, spotting team mate mistakes, being diplomatic and getting along with team mates. If a player passes this phase, he will achieve tier 1 status, associated with red color. This will make him eligible for stage 2. Stage 2 will require that enough players reach stage 1 first, therefore it will take some time until stage 2 begins. Once more players start reaching stage 1, stage 2 will be announced. There are plans to have 7 stages in total at the moment. All stages would mostly consist of lower stage players fighting it out among themselves and then some bonus activity too. While 1st stage is open to basically anyone, advancing in it will be a difficult task for many.
During event cycle, the games will be observed and there will be occasional updates analyzing some games and breaking news on event related topics. Some updates will take form of videos on sites like Youtube. All event participants are strongly advised to have fun during event and not worry too much about winning 1st place, after all if player has what it takes, it should come out naturally. This event cycle will be celebration of intelligence, creativity and the distance that the Warzone community has gone in the years. There are no monetary rewards planned for these events. These games will serve as opportunity for player to have fun, learn new templates/skills, experience new settings and gain some recognition among Warzone community. Players who complete stage 1, will be invited to unique discord chat designed for Warzone Ultimate Series players. Here any discussion will be welcome as long as it's civil, tier 1 players will also have easier ways of coordinating together for games/tournaments not related to Series. Rules for the event games/tournaments: 1. Only 1 account per player. 2. Respect towards Warzone rules. (Severe rule violation will result in disqualification). 3. No account sharing. In order to join, contact me privately or leave message below, as time goes by and I create tournaments, you'll be invited to them, I wish you best of luck! This event will be in continuous cycle, the tournaments for reaching stage 1 will be created continuously.

Frequently Asked Questions Part 1 Why can’t I join or reserve all 5 regular tournaments? Each tournament only has 20 spots in it and there are currently ~80 active participants, due to that it’s impossible to join all the tournaments for all the players. Due to high amount of players, only joining one tournament can be guaranteed for all the players.
Why are there more participants than spots in a tournament? Each season has got 5-6 different tournaments which would translate to 10-12 games played at a time. Not all players have enough time for all those games and some players might not join some tournaments, because they don’t like the settings. It is important to ensure that all the tournaments start quickly, therefore more players are invited.
I reserved a tournament, but it started without me. Why did it happen? You didn’t join the tournament in time. You got invited to a tournament first and had 24 hours to safely join it, after that more people got invited and they joined first.
If I didn’t join the tournament in time, can I reserve another tournament? No. Due to your reservation, one less player could reserve that specific tournament. If reservation shifting was enabled, players could shift their reservations from one tournament to another, effectively making much less space for reservations from players who seriously intend to participate in a specific tournament.
I was not invited to a tournament. Why did it happen? There are several explanations. It’s most likely, that you were part of a later invitation group and first invitation groups managed to fill the tournament before you could join it. You can check participant groups invitation time in the main WUS thread (scroll up till you find information about upcoming tournaments).
Your invitation group might consist from ~20+ players, therefore due to low amount of spots, the fastest players to join would do so and if you weren’t fast enough, tournament would start without you.
You might not have been invited due to a mistake. If you see that you are not on participating players list or if you’re are and was not invited to a tournament on a supposed time, contact me immediately and report the situation.
You might not have been invited due to your high (25+%) boot rate or being inactive for over 30 days. In those cases contact me in advance and tell me that those factors won’t be an issue for you.
The final reason why you were not invited is that you are suspended, you can check suspended players list to see for how many tournaments you have been suspended.
I haven’t reserved a tournament yet and the first tournament was already made, can I reserve another tournament? You can reserve any one tournament, which hasn’t been created yet.
I am on suspended list. Why did this happen? You have been suspended for violating WUS rules, all your violations have been listed in the main thread (scroll down long enough) with a given reason and link to a game where you violated specific rule. You can read all the rules in the WUS thread as well.
Why do I have to follow specific rules? Rules have been devised to ensure best experience for all the players of WUS. Their goal is to ensure that all players can experience maximum amount of quality games and that there would be no cheating involved. The rules only affect player conduct like boots, 1st turn surrenders, stalling, account sharing, multi accounting, disrespecting teammate. The rules do not tell you how you should or shouldn’t play in your games.
How do you determine stalling? Stalling happens when player is obviously losing the game, but instead of surrendering he chooses to continue playing. He also could start to play very slowly (~2+ days turn average) in hopes to annoy his opponent or get lucky and win due to opponent getting booted.
Obviously lost position is state where opponent has got much more income and you can verify that through checking history. In such position Opponent has at least 25% more income than the player and there’s no more ways to get more income than opponent or to break some of opponent’s bonuses.
I joined a tournament but no longer wish to keep playing in it. What should I do? I recommend finishing all your games normally. If you need a break, you can use vacations mode. If you get booted or surrender early in your games, you will get suspended for up to 6 tournaments for each forfeited tournament. If you want to get a little lower punishment, I recommend you to contact me as soon as possible and inform me about the situation.
How did tournament templates or their order get chosen? Firstly each season gets chosen a unique theme. It could be related to specific style of settings, maps, distribution modes. Then it is decided how much of variety could be achieved with the theme and extreme ends of it are determined. Once that is achieved the planning for different styles of tournaments begins. Templates get divided into these groups: Complex settings and easy to understand settings; Long games and short games; Popular maps and less known maps; Use of a specific setting; Many cards and few or no cards. It is sought to achieve maximum amount of variety with the templates.
Most of the template are built from the scratch and I apply my creativity in choosing specific details. After that I move into play testing phase and undergo rigorous process of ensuring that the template is strategic and fun to play. During the testing process there are usually a lot of changes applied to the template and the initial and final versions might differ significantly.
The final thing which is done is reviewing how long it took to complete each test game overall and rank the templates from slowest to fastest and based on that ranking determine the order in which the tournaments will be made. This is made to ensure that all tournaments finish around the same time.
How do you determine a strategic template? A strategic template allows games with multiple ways of winning. There are no overpowered bonuses or regions and all viable strategies have possible counters.
Why are all the tournaments made at different times? This gives me better control over invitation groups, if all 5 tournaments were made at the same time, much more players would manage to quickly join all 5 tournaments, which would make it much harder to ensure that all participants get to join at least one tournament.
I am not able to join a tournament on a specific date, what should I do? You could reserve that tournament to push your invitation date to an earlier date. If you’re busy on the reserved players' invitation date, you could try to contact me and it might be possible to make the tournament a bit earlier and give you some extra time, but I can’t promise that. Otherwise if you haven’t reserved tournament, there’s nothing I can do, perhaps you’ll be able to join another tournament instead.
What should I do if I feel like I’m a weak player or I don’t know how to play on these templates? All of these templates are unique and the chances are that neither of participants knows how to play well on these templates, so you all get similar start. Alternatively you could play just for fun and there’s nothing wrong about it. If you want quick improvement and increase your chances to win, you could watch one of the review videos on the main WUS thread and find most of the necessary information on how to play well.
Why should I join if there are a lot of weak players in the competition? You could try to see how well you can adapt to new templates and whether you can consistently beat all the players or not. There’s also some stronger players entering recently, so challenge levels are increasingly rising.
These tournaments are only part of tier 0, which is open to everyone. If you win a tournament or consistently keep finishing in top 5, you would get a chance to make 2nd phase run (centred around 1v1 games) and if it goes well, follow up with 3rd phase run (centred around 3v3 games). 2nd and 3rd phases games would involve strong players (like top 25 1v1 ladder or quickmatch 1000+ rating) and passing them would be a challenge.
If you pass 3rd phase and you reach tier 1 which would be a permanent check point. As more strong players would reach tier 1, there would be tier 1 exclusive tournaments and once more players would reach tier 1, it would eventually become possible to try to qualify to tier 2. The higher the tier you reach, the stronger the players will be in it.
How do the schedule of tournaments work? There’s four seasons in a year, each season lasting around 3 months. Currently last season began on August 1st, but in the future there are plans to gradually push season start dates to September 1st, December 1st, March 1st and June 1st. Each season will have 5 regular tournaments, each being made around ~3-4 days apart from each other. At the end of season, during its last week, special tournament is made.
How do I qualify to special tournament? Reach top 5 spot in any of regular tournaments. If top 5 lists overlap between different tournaments, some lower ranked players might get invited.
Why is special tournament special? Special tournament gives 5 tickets to 2nd phase instead of 1. On top of that it has all the best players from the season joining it. The template chosen for the tournament is special too and great effort is made to ensure that the template would encompass the pure essence of that season’s theme. It’s also likely that special tournament might have longer games or more complex settings.

Frequently Asked Questions Part 2
What’s the purpose of 2nd phase? To confirm that participant is a skilled (by the standards of top players) 1v1 player who can adapt to different templates with relative ease. Regular WUS tournaments can be entered by anyone, therefore they do not represent the best Warzone players and it’s possible to win WUS tournament without being great player.
Who is challenger? Challenger represents someone who is very good at the game and is capable to play well on his chosen template.
How are 2nd phase challengers chosen? 2nd phase challenger can become anyone who is top 25 in 1v1 ladder; top 20 in multiday ladder; top 50 in multiday quickmatch; has 1000+ global quickmatch rating; finished top 20 in any seasonal ladder’s season; top 25 player from AWP World tour; member of A-C groups in promotional/relegational league; member of A-B groups in small Earth promotional/relegational league; Most players from the clans participating in clan league A.
What’s the purpose of 3rd phase? To confirm that participant is a skilled team player/leader (by top players’ standards). While playing skills are tested in this phase, main factors are communication and leadership skills.
Who is judge? Participant’s teammates in 3rd phase. Overall skilled players, whose job is to test participants team related skills. Also they act as independent critics, which ensures that participants who complete 3rd phase are well skilled and recognised by Warzone strategic community.
How are 3rd phase judges chosen? Same criteria as for challengers apply, plus in addition to that, top 10 2v2 ladder and top 5 3v3 ladder team members are eligible.
What does it mean to reach tier 1? Participants who will reach tier 1 will be considered professional players with great abilities in both 1v1 and team games, who are also able to quickly learn new templates and deal with great variety of difficult templates. Participant who reached tier 1 had to go through at least 34 games on at least 16 different templates and had at least 15 games versus top players. Reaching tier 1 is a big milestone!
By reaching tier 1 player gets more famous and more likely to have better chances of joining top strategic clans. Additional rewards might include poems, music, maps, templates, reviews, entertainment videos. Tier 1 player automatically unlocks ability to be challenger or judge. Being in tier 1 can also help find better teammates for 3v3 and 2v2 ladder runs. Not to mention multiple personal reviews received during journey to tier 1.
In order to reach tier 1 participant would have to overcome any weaknesses he has and there are many learning tools provided by WUS which is perfect way to help weaker players to grow into true potentials. Reaching tier 1 means that participant has gone the distance and now is a skilled player.
Is WUS associated with any clan? No. WUS is strictly clanless event. You don’t have to belong to a clan to participate and you won’t be forced to join any clans at any given point.
Where can I find more information? Good way to learn more is reading rules. They are in main WUS thread (scroll down to find them). They are very detailed and should give good idea how things function here.
Another way to learn more information is asking in this thread or sending me (Phakh Gokhn) a private message. I’ll be glad to answer all of your WUS related questions!
Can I suggest my own template? You might give some ideas, but full templates will likely be rejected. It’s likely that you’re well trained on your suggested template and using that template would give you unfair advantage, which I don’t want to happen.

WUS Rules Video VersionVideo version of rules goes through all the important rules and gives examples on how they would apply. Multiple example games are shown and also it is explained why the rules are important and what's their goal. This video is great way to quickly and easily understand the important rules of Warzone Ultimate series. Extended Rule Sets Part 1<WUS> General Rules1. It is strongly encouraged to commit as soon as possible and surrender once it's clear that you have lost. Normal turn time should be around ~24 hours, pushing committing to 4 days mark might be considered as stalling. All delays are reviewed manually once the game is finished. If it is decided that player was intentionally delaying game, he will receive warning followed by temporal suspension from future tournaments. If it is determined that player had 50-20% less income than opponent with no means to decrease the gap and player should have realised that, yet still decided to delay the game, the losing player will be considered staller and action will be taken. 2. Getting booted or surrendering on turn 0 in more than 3 games, will result in temporal suspension from participating in <WUS>. 3. If player is inactive for more than 30 days and hasn't informed about hid departure in advance, he will automatically be removed from participant list and will need to reapply to join. He would need to start from tier 0 tournaments. 4. If participant learns that his vacation will be longer than 10 days, and he won't be able to set 2nd vacation in time, he needs to inform <WUS> manager (currently Phakh Gokhn) about it as soon as possible. His games ended due to boot due to this, will not receive any rematches if they're part of tournament, other types of games will be reviewed case by case. 5. If another player can use participant's account, this information needs to be disclosed as soon as possible. 6. If participant manages to get booted while being suspended for violating Warzone rules, loses and boot count will be counted in. 7. Rematches of original games do not count if original game ended in a win or lose for participating player. 8. Multi-accounting is strongly discouraged. Any alternative accounts used need to be made publicly known by providing original account's name. If participant is an alt of an account which is participating in same game or tournament too, participant must inform me as soon as possible. If participant ends up fighting himself and information goes public, he will be temporary suspended from this phase. 9. Any rule can be changed at any time, new rule changes are informed in advance using this thread or by other means. Each phase/tournament has consistent rules during its full duration, new rules will only affect upcoming tournaments/games. <WUS> Tournament Specific Rules1. Using more than 3 vacations during 1 tournament, is discouraged. If participant needs more than 30 days vacation, he shouldn't join the tournament, if he already is in tournament, participant should immediately inform about his situation to series manager (currently Phakh Gokhn). Failure to do so might result in participant being considered a staller and getting suspended from next few tournaments. 2. Tournament needs at least 10 participants to start, Each tournament has 20 players limit by default and starts in 30 days if enough players don't join quickly enough. If tournament starts with less than 10 players, it will be considered a failed tournament and not a part of <WUS> series. 3. By joining tournament, each participant automatically confirms, that he checked the tournament rules and is intending to play in all 19 games of tournament. <WUS> 10 Games Run (2nd Phase) Rules for Participants1. Participant plays 10 games. 2. Participant has a right to decide how many games he wants to play at once, he must participate in at least 2 games at any given time, but if participant wants, he can request all 10 games to be made at once. Participant's games will be made by other players. 3. Each template is different, each game has unique settings. It will be guaranteed that the templates will be strategic or in other words there will be more than 1 way to win the game and counter strategies will be available. 4. Great effort will be made that participant's opponent would be highly skilled. 5. Each opponent will be a different player. 6. Each template will be picked by participant's opponent. If there are more than 10 available opponents, participant will be able to pick up to five of them, other will choose him manually. 7. Participant can refuse to play up to 3 games before they start, if they do start, participant might consider vote to end option (both players must agree then). 8. Participant needs to win 40% of his 10 games. First turn boots will require a different game to be made. All 10 games will be players. If 40% requirement is failed to meet, participant will need to unlock his ability to play in this phase through another regular <WUS> tournament. 9. Games will have 4 days boot time and respected vacations. 10. Participant can vote to end his game. This is discouraged practise and it's strongly recommended to make sure before the game is started that participant is willing to play in it. If game is voted to end, participant is free to play another game instead of this one with different player or template. <WUS> 10 Games Run (2nd Phase) Rules for Challengers1. Challenger can challenge as many different participants as he wants. 2. Challenger must propose a template which will be used for the game, if it gets rejected by participant, challenger can proceed challenging same player using different template. 3. Challenger can make a list of up to 5 different templates and give it to participant, participant can reject all templates if he has enough refusals left (currently participant can refuse up to 3 templates during his 10 games run) or he can pick one template as his option for the game versus challenger. <WUS> Rules for Selecting Templates1. Boot time is 4 days, vacations are respected, surrender is automatic, game starts once all players join. 2. Transfer only, attack only, attack by percentage settings are recommended to be included, but you don't have to follow this point. 3. If settings include random move order, order priority cards are necessary to be included. 4. It's advised that there are no random card pieces awarded. 5. Game should be possible to finish (no 0 base income + chance to stay at 0 income). 6. Luck value should be lower than or equal to 16%, higher suggested luck settings might be reduced by me to 16%. 7. If game uses full distribution and no wastelands, it is advised to make more than ~3 picks available for both players depending on size of chosen map. 8. A map must offer diversity of viable bonuses. For example if map has normal bonuses, but one of them has 1000 bonus value, that bonus will be altered. 9. Chosen template must be strategic. <WUS> used definition of "strategic" is that map offers multiple strategies with each having either a viable counter or ability to nullify strong starts by splitting picks with opponent. 10. Random distribution is discouraged, if it is used, it should be made that regardless of random start, players could still have a fair game. 11. Only 1v1 templates are considered.

Extended Rule Sets Part 2
5 Team Game Run (3rd Phase) Rules for Participants 1. Participant gets to play in 5 3v3 team games. 2. Participant can play from 2 to 5 team games at a time. 3. Each game would have different template and different teammates. (5 team games would have 10 different teammates) 4. Participant would be informed about 5 templates in advance and he could reject one of them. The new template, could not be rejected. 5. Participant’s teammates are determined in advanced and cannot be changed. 6. Each initial game can be voted to end, but voting is voluntary. New game might have different players involved. There are no penalties if someone refuses to vote to end. Remade games can be voted to end only if teammates or opponents get booted, attack each other, surrender prematurely or intentionally misuse cards in a highly detrimental manner. If remade game gets voted to end without good reason, it is counted as a loss for the participant. 7. Each game by default has instant surrenders. Participant can request any game to have surrender accepting enabled. Surrender accepting would be used to ensure that participant surrendered after teammates' consent. 7.1. If opposing team’s player surrenders, his surrender must be accepted during current or next turns. Failing to do so might result in a 1 tournament suspension. 7.2. If automatic surrenders are enabled and player surrenders without teammates’ consent, the teammates can write a complaint. Each complaint will be investigated and if it’s determined, that it’s true and in addition to that the participant surrendered while the game was still undecided, participant would receive 1 tournament and 1 3rd phase run suspensions. 8. If participant gets booted, while the game is still undecided, he will receive 1 tournament suspension for each boot and 1 3rd phase run suspension for each 3 boots. Each game has “Booted players turn into AI” enabled and booted player can return 2 times after boot. If player fails to return after getting booted, for each such case he will receive 1 3rd phase run suspension. 9. If another player gets booted while the game is undecided, the game will get remade. 10. If participant attacks his teammates without their consent, teammates can write a complaint. Each complaint will be investigated individually and if its determined that attacks on teammates had detrimental effect to the course of a game, participant will receive 2 tournaments and 1 3rd phase run suspensions. 11. If participant misuses cards in a highly detrimental manner, teammates can write a complaint. Each complaint will be investigates and if confirmed, participant will receive 1 tournament suspension. 12. If it is determined that participant used an alternative account or shared passwords without disclosing it, following punishments will be applied: 12.1. 1 tournament suspension if alternative account and main/other accounts were not used in malicious way. 12.2. 2 tournaments and 1 3rd phase run suspensions for participant and 3 months suspension from participation for another account if it is determined that opposing team’s player’s and participant’s accounts were controlled by the same person. 12.3. 5 tournaments and 2 3rd phase run suspensions for participant and 1 year suspension from participation for another account if it is determined that teammate’s and participant’s accounts were controlled by the same person. 13. Communication between participant and opposing team’s members regarding 3rd phase game matters is strictly forbidden, if it’s learnt that such things happened, participant will be suspended for 3 tournaments and 1 third phase run, while every opposing team’s member who knew about it and didn’t report the situation, will receive 6 months suspension from participating in 3rd phase. 14. Participant is expected to speak in team chat and be a team leader or at least be a team player. Participant can give orders to his teammates, but they do not have to follow them. The ability to be a team leader or player will be the most important factor judging the final result of 3rd phase and whether player qualifies to tier 1 or not. 15. If participant believes that teammate is intentionally ruining the game, he should write a complaint and the game in question will be investigated. If it’s found that the complaint is false, participant will receive 1 tournament suspension and otherwise teammate will receive a warning, followed by 3 months suspension from participating in 3rd phase if teammate continues his behaviour in the future. 16. Once all 5 games are completed, participant will receive his performance results. If he believes that score does not reflect the reality, he can write a complaint. If it’s determined that score was fair, participant receives 1 tournament suspension, otherwise judges who gave bad scores will receive 1 month suspension from participating in 3rd phase.
5 Team Game Run (3rd Phase) Rules for Teammates (Judges) 1. Each judge will play one game with each participant. 2. Each judge will play to win the game and will not try to sabotage winning chances. 3. All rules from 3rd phase participant rules regarding conduct apply to judges, unless it’s specified otherwise. Each tournament suspension would equal 1 month suspension and each 3rd phase run suspension would equal 3 months suspension. 4. Judges are allowed to make sub optimal moves or card uses. It is expected that participant will be able to spot those mistakes out and call them out. Judge must follow the given correction from participant if he manages to give good reasons for why judge’s current moves are bad. 5. Judge is allowed to give bad advises to participant. It is expected that participant will be able to spot that and ignore the bad suggestions. 6. At the end of game judge will be asked to give a score to participant. Possible scores: 6.1. -1 if judge believes that participant performed poorly. Judge would also need to provide all the main reasons why he decided so. 6.2. 0 points if participant left no impression. 6.3. +1 if judge believes that participant performed well. Judge would also need to provide all the main reasons why he decided so.
5 Team Game Run (3rd Phase) Scoring System 1. Each participant can score from -10 to 20 in a run. 2. 10 points are required to pass the 3rd phase. 3. Each won game gives 1 point. 4. Each game can give additional 1 point if it is determined that participant’s moves were good. 5. Participant can also receive from -10 to 10 points from Judges’ scores.
