Tournaments are organized competitions in War.app that allow players or teams to compete through a structured series of games. Tournaments can be created by any player and support multiple tournament formats.

Tournament Types

War.app supports three tournament formats:

Each format uses a different method to determine the winner and may be better suited to different numbers of participants.

Individual and Team Tournaments

All tournament formats can be created as either individual tournaments or team tournaments.

In a team tournament:

  • Every team contains the same number of players.
  • Teams remain unchanged for the duration of the tournament.
  • Players compete as members of their assigned team throughout the event.

Coin Prizes

Single-elimination tournaments and Double-elimination tournaments may award coin prizes to top-performing players or teams.

Tournament creators can configure prize amounts when creating the tournament.

Coin prizes are not available in Round-robin tournaments.

Open and Invite-Only Tournaments

Tournaments can be created as either open tournaments or invite-only tournaments.

Open Tournaments

An Open Tournament is visible on the Open Tournaments page, which can be accessed from MultiPlayer → Tournaments.

Any player may join an open tournament unless:

Invite-Only Tournaments

Invite-only tournaments can only be joined by invited players.

Tournament creators may optionally disable invite forwarding. When invite forwarding is disabled, only the creator can invite additional players. Otherwise, any player who has already been invited may invite others to join the tournament.

Tournament Invitations

When a player is invited to a tournament, a notification appears on the MultiPlayer page. Players may also receive an email or push notification if those notification methods are enabled.

Invited players may either accept or decline the invitation. Declining an invitation does not permanently prevent participation; players may still join later, provided the tournament has not yet started.

Tournament Games

The Vote to End feature is disabled in tournament games. Every tournament game must produce a winner, ensuring that the tournament can progress according to its format.
