Instant Surrender

Game creators can decide whether surrenders happen instantly or require that all other active players in the game accept the surrender. The default is for surrenders to happen instantly.

Most games use instant surrender, also known as "Players must accept surrenders: no" in the game's settings. However, if this setting is disabled, then all players must accept your surrender before it's enacted. It's important to remember to keep playing until the surrender is accepted. This is designed like a traditional board game, where it's considered rude to get up and leave in the middle of a game and all players are expected to continue playing even when losing.

Surrender into AIs

Game creators can decide whether surrendered players are replaced by an AI or not. When disabled, surrendered player's territories and armies will turn into neutrals. If enabled, the player will be replaced with an AI, which will continue to operate their empire for them.
