While this presumably worked at stopping the spambots, it also degraded the performance of the wiki to an unacceptable level, even with APC caching enabled. Therefore, I took these IP bans out. The WarLight wiki came under a bit of attack by spambots recetly. Based on the [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Combating_spam combating spam] page, I first tried to import their list of 170,000 banned IPs.
